Descripción
The process of detecting specified pathogens or proteins is done by immobilizing the proper bio-receptors on specific sensing areas. Then the analytes will be introduced in those specific areas and react by a process in which only the target biomolecules will be bound with its corresponding biomolecular receptor. In label-free biosensing this binding process is monitored most of the times by photonic sensing structures which are highly sensitive to small refractive index variations provoked for this binding interaction. One of the bio-photonic sensing schemes recently proposed have been based on the holistic approach that combines bio-photonic sensing cells and advanced sub-micron spot size optical interrogation technologies, in which the bio-optical detection system use a tightly focused beam which allows measuring in situ micron/sub-micron size domains, making the routine screening more cost-effective and suitable to perform hundreds of measurements on a single or several samples for multi-single or multiparameter measurements. This proposed bio-optical detection concept will be tremendously sensitive to refractive index variations by means of the observation of the reflectivity profile of three complementary enhanced submicron spot size optical technologies simultaneously (Reflectometry, Spectrometry and Ellipsometry based techniques), and the optical enhancement due to the bio-photonics interferometric or resonant sensing cells, making possible to determine with more re.
