The seismic field produced by blasting was measured in ten rounds at an open pit mining. Three tri-axial geophones and one uniaxial geophone were used in each round. The transducer mounts were firmly bolted to the bedrock and positioned very close each other. A total station was used to orient the geophones towards the gravity centre of the blasts, so that the contribution of the bearing error to the uncertainty of the measurements is kept to a minimum. The error of the peak particle velocity (ppv) and dominant frequency (fft) is estimated from the 95 % upper value of the distribution of relative standard errors (ratio of the standard error of the mean to the mean). The uncertainty is 5.9 % for ppv and up to 27.2 % for fft. These values are used as a baseline to investigate the influence of ground coupling in the reliability of the measurements. For this purpose already published vibration measurements for four works were analyzed and discussed. | |
