Since 1995 Spanish agriculture has undergone a significant transformation that is evident in the change in land usage, production orientation and livestock. The trend, whether upward or downward, accounts for a large part of the arable land usage, ranking from the most general (AAU, herbaceous, woody, irrigated, dryland cropland)¿to the more specific (olive groves, vineyard, cereals, leguminous¿). The fact that the sheer passage of time should explain the changes in the fundamental variables of agriculture (surface areas and livestock) is indicative of the slow but continuous adjustment process undergone by agriculture over the 14-year period subject to study.
