Abstract
This paper presents the design of a 100 GHz imaging radar system with operating bandwidth of 9 GHz. It results in a range resolution below 2 cm. The high-resolution FMCW radar consists of a front-end of commercial components operating at frequencies up to 100 GHz. Its block diagram and the different subsystems are described in detail, such as the microwave subsystem. Components of the transmission chain have been designed and fabricated in microstrip technology, previous to being integrated in a compact module. Finally, in order to improve the performance features of the system, an extension to 300 GHz is proposed.
