Clean Cities Spain ClimAccelerator, the accelerator led by Universidad Politécnica de Madrid together with the support of EIT Climate-KIC, aims to achieve climate neutrality in urban centers.

The third edition of the Clean Cities Spain ClimAccelerator acceleration programme, the European startup accelerator led by Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and supported by EIT Climate-KIC that is committed to achieving climate neutrality in urban centres, came to an end after four intense months of activities on March 7th during its Demo Day.

The event, which took place at the Madrid International Lab, was a perfect opportunity for the participating startups to enhance their contacts and relationships with key stakeholders from the entrepreneurial ecosystem, such as corporates, investors and public institutions. During the day, several connection dynamics were implemented, generating more than 70 interactions between more than 15 attending entities.

The session also included the participation of Francisco José Moreno from the Madrid City Hall, María Ángeles Huerta, representing EIT Climate-KIC and Mª Luisa Martínez from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, who valued entrepreneurship as a source to offer solutions based on innovative technologies and focused on urban sustainability. The masterclass was done by Pippa Gawley, founder of Zero Carbon Capital, who set a special emphasis on the challenges that both, investors and startups, face in terms of climate and decarbonization and explained the reasons why the year 2024 will be a chance in terms of fundraising in this sector.

Launch of the next call

The new edition of Clean Cities Spain ClimAccelerator will focus on collaboration with the main agents of the innovation ecosystem as well as investment and internationalization opportunities as key points for the acceleration programme.

The selected startups will receive training from international professionals with strategic roles, expand their network of contacts with experts from the entrepreneurial ecosystem, as well as participate in important events in the verticals that this initiative is working on.

At the beginning of April, the 2024 call will be officially launched, open to all European startups that are developing solutions for the sustainability of our cities. Thanks to this 2024 edition, the programme is expected to exceed one hundred supported companies.
