UPM leads “El Mundo” Ranking
Seven of its academic degrees were selected as the best option according to the classification established by this newspaper. UPM consolidates its position as the best Spanish technical university.

The Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) strengthens its position among the top choices for pursuing university studies in Engineering, Architecture, Sports Science and Fashion Design. It has been deduced from El Mundo newspaper´s “Ranking of the 50 Most In-Demand Degrees” (2025 edition), which includes a list of the best Spanish universities for pursuing the most in-demand degrees.
The Universidad Politécnica de Madrid is the best option for studying Engineering and Architecture in Spain. It remains as the best Spanish technical university, among both, public and private institutions.
The centers of this Madrilenian university are the best for studying seven degrees in the areas of Architecture, Biotechnology, Construction, Agricultural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology Engineering and Telecommunication Technologies. The university degrees: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Sciences for Physical Activity placed second place. Meanwhile Computer Engineering occupies third place in this ranking of universities degrees. Overall, Madrid´s public universities lead the ranking, with 20 degrees ranked in first position.
The newspaper El Mundo analyzes 27 criteria to compile this ranking. Among them, the university´s positioning in international rankings. The Universidad Politécnica de Madrid is among the top 100 universities in the world in the field of Engineering and Technology according to the 2025 QS World University Ranking which considers subjects such as the branch of knowledge. UPM offers 55 undergraduate and double degrees programs. In addition, 48 of its programs are internationally recognized with accreditations granted by independent agencies (ABET, NAAB, EUR-ACE, EUROINF y CABE).
