The Laser Center of the UPM is a proprietary R+D+i center whose main activity is the research in processes based on laser technology for its transfer to industry. The Center is a member of the APPOLO European Laboratories Hub, a link between the European optoelectronics industry and different strategic industrial sectors for the increase of production capacity through the use of state-of-the-art laser technology.
Its lines of research cover processes ranging from the improvement of mechanical properties of materials through laser treatments, to tissue engineering in biomedicine through manufacturing based on the transfer of biological material with laser. Among its range of scientific-technological services, the Laser Micro and Nanofabrication Service stands out, being a national and international reference in this field.
