For a global scientific knowledge

With the approval of the Open Access Policy, UPM promotes the publication in their Open Repository. Professors and students are invited to publish their academic and scientific work.

Internet has led a deep transformation for the scientific communication and the digital edition. The scientific publication in access opened in Internet is turning into a complementary system of publication to the traditional one.

publicaciones científicasIn that sense, on 28th November 2010, the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (in English: Technical University of Madrid) approved its Open Access Policy, to promote publication in the Open Repository UPM (or in Technical Digital Library) for teachers and students academic and scientific work.

The main goal is to promote Open Access in a national and international context. For that reason, UPM invites to all members of the academic community to publish the results of their academic and research activity in Open access journals (or allowing authors depositing a copy in open repositories) and/or in open repositories recognized in the scientific community.

Furthermore, UPM requests the faculty and research staff to deposit academic publications: journal articles, texts published on conferences, theses, master reports, final projects and scientific and technical documents in its Digital Archive UPM.

According to the Open Access policy to the results of research promoted by the Community of Madrid, the Spanish Government and the EU, research groups applying for UPM research funding should facilitate the publication of their results in Digital Archive UPM through self-archiving system or providing a digital copy of the documents, taking into account publishers self-archive policies, avoiding to the maximum extend those publications which do not comply with those policies.

The file of the scientific works in opened warehouses helps to increase the diffusion of the results of the investigations, granting major international visibility to them, at the time that it favors the impact of the publications. As consequence, it increases the visibility of the institutions to which authors are linked.

UPM has a system of digital complementary platforms, with aims and different characteristics: Archivo Digital UPM, Colección Digital Politécnica, Plataforma de tele-enseñanza, OCW-UPM y Canal Youtube.
