ERC Fellowship

The European Research Council funds international growing reputation projects as recognition of scientific excellence for researchers from anywhere in the world.

About the ERC program

The research projects must cover research topics at the frontier of knowledge in any scientific field, including social sciences and interdisciplinary studies.

The grants are suitable both for young researchers who start or consolidate as directors of a group («Starting Grants», «Consolidator Grants») and for scientists with a recognized scientific career («Advanced Grants»).

The evaluation of proposals is carried out by courts of internationally recognized experts. Researchers requesting funding from the ERC must be firmly committed to the project and dedicate at least 50% of his/her time to it at UPM premises.

ERC grants support projects carried out by an individual researcher (the "principal investigator") and his/her team. The formation of research teams is flexible and can be formalized after the sign of the Grant Agreement. In addition, members can be of any nationality. The project will finance his/her working contract and the one of the staff of his/her research team to develop the project for a period of up to five years in UPM, combining with another activity or work in a non-EU country.
